A family-centered information campaign that turned the start-of-school rush into a clear, centralized resource hub for enrollment, transportation, schedules, meals, safety, supplies, and school contacts.
Back-to-school communication requires families to act on a large amount of information in a short window: enrollment, open house, transportation, safety, meals, supplies, schedules, calendars, attendance, immunizations, dress code, and school contacts. The campaign needed to make those details easy to find before the first day of school.
The solution was a centralized Back-to-School Hub that served as the district's trusted starting point for family readiness. Instead of sending families to separate messages and scattered links, the hub organized critical resources into a visual, scannable path.
Challenge
The start of a new school year creates high demand for timely, accurate information. Families may need different resources depending on whether they are new to the district, returning, riding the bus, applying for meals, finding school supplies, or confirming school-day logistics.
The communications challenge was to reduce confusion without overwhelming families. The campaign needed to be comprehensive, but still simple enough for a parent to scan quickly on a phone and act on immediately.
Strategy
The strategy centered on one idea: make the hub the single source of truth, then use every supporting message to point families back to that destination. The hub was structured around family questions rather than department ownership, which made the experience more intuitive for users.
Grouped information by the tasks families needed to complete before school started.
Used large visual tiles to help parents recognize topics quickly.
Created direct pathways to forms, portals, schedules, and school-specific pages.
Designed the page to be updated as new information became available.
Execution
Website Hub
Built a central destination for the most requested back-to-school information and linked each topic to the correct action step.
Visual Wayfinding
Used a consistent graphic tile system to make topics easy to scan, share, and recognize across platforms.
Family Readiness Messaging
Framed the hub around preparation, welcome-back energy, and clear next steps before the first day of school.
Cross-Department Coordination
Organized content touching enrollment, transportation, nutrition, safety, academics, attendance, and school operations.
Update-Friendly Structure
Created a page that could continue to change as dates, documents, and school-level details were finalized.
Campaign Destination
Gave schools and district channels a single link to share instead of repeatedly sending families to multiple pages.
Resource Architecture
The hub organized information into clear family action areas, including new student enrollment, returning student updates, open house information, bus transportation, school safety, meal menus, staggered start dates, free and reduced meals, school supplies, immunizations, attendance, start and stop times, calendars, virtual school, school contacts, and dress code.

Posting Calendar
The rollout plan gave the team a coordinated July schedule for social media and news updates. Messaging repeated core family-readiness topics across the month, with higher-priority posts tied to the hub, open house information, staggered start dates, start/end times, school meals, supplies, transportation updates, and bus safety reminders.

Campaign Materials
The creative system used bold district colors, simple topic labels, and school-themed visuals to turn logistical information into an approachable campaign experience.
The posting calendar and social graphics are included directly on this page so viewers can review the campaign rollout without requesting Drive access.
Social Media Post Series
Supporting posts extended the hub campaign into timely reminders for open house, staggered start dates, transportation, bus safety, school meals, supplies, start/end times, virtual academy information, and family contact updates.

What This Demonstrates
This project shows how marketing planning and public information strategy can make routine school operations easier for families. The work required audience empathy, content organization, cross-department coordination, visual consistency, and a practical understanding of how parents actually search for information during busy seasons.
It also demonstrates the value of building a communication destination that other channels can support. When the hub is clear, every email, social post, school reminder, and staff response becomes more useful.
