Snapshot
This campaign centered on a suicide prevention awareness video created for Pickens County School District. The work required a careful balance: communicating about a serious student well-being issue with clarity and compassion while avoiding language or framing that could feel sensational, stigmatizing, or unsafe.
The communication goal was to support awareness, reduce stigma, and reinforce that help-seeking is appropriate, available, and worth talking about.
Purpose
The project was designed to elevate prevention awareness in a way that students, families, staff, and community partners could receive with care. Rather than relying on fear-based messaging, the campaign emphasized connection, responsibility, and the importance of speaking up when someone may need support.
Communication Approach
Because of the sensitivity of the topic, the messaging approach prioritized responsible language, hope-oriented framing, audience care, and coordination with appropriate internal and subject-matter partners. The work focused on making the message accessible and supportive while respecting the seriousness of the issue.
- Used prevention-focused messaging rather than sensational framing.
- Centered care, awareness, and help-seeking as the core communication themes.
- Maintained a tone appropriate for students, families, staff, and community audiences.
- Balanced emotional resonance with public information responsibility.
Campaign Video
The video served as the central campaign artifact and carried the message in a format that could be shared across digital channels and community-facing communication.

What This Demonstrates
This project shows my ability to communicate with empathy, restraint, and precision when the subject matter requires extra care. It also reflects the judgment needed to support prevention awareness while protecting trust with students, families, staff, and the broader community.
